Andrew Mountbatten Windsor

Andrew Mountbatten Windsor is the new name for the British Andrew who was born to Queen Elizabeth of England. He has been stripped of all royal titles, including his princely title. 79% of Britons support the decision by King Charles, but 58% still believe it took too long.

The background is that Andrew had close ties to the convicted American pedophile Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, convicted for sex trafficking. Virginia Giuffre was one of the victims who came forward; she revealed that she had been sexually abused by Andrew on three occasions. In 2019, Andrew denied the accusation from Giuffre in a TV interview that turned out extremely poorly for both him and the monarchy.

In recent years, several members of Andrew’s staff have come forward, giving testimony about a highly demanding superior with strange habits who bullied employees. The most serious issue, however, is that Andrew over time has had a steady stream of unidentified women visiting, both at his royal residence and at residences and hotels he stayed at abroad.

By virtue of his position, Andrew has so far neither been questioned nor charged, yet there is little doubt in the public that Andrew is guilty of sex trafficking. This raises questions about the accountability of the English monarchy, as the head of the monarchy has access to intelligence information that must have been aware of the matters in question. Queen Elizabeth did not intervene regarding Andrew, and it has taken time before King Charles acted. Prince William is said to have been a strong driving force in cleaning up and holding Andrew accountable. It now remains to be seen whether Andrew will be questioned and charged. Democratic members of Congress in the United States are calling for Andrew to be questioned.

In the English press, Andrew’s behavior is described as “entitled". He acted as, and is also said to have stated, that he is entitled to his lifestyle. This is a trait associated with narcissism and psychopathy. There are also signs of entitlement in the Norwegian royal family. Märtha and Durek are examples, but right now the most relevant case is the lawsuit filed by Marius Borg Høiby’s legal representatives to stop the book White Stripes, Black Sheeps. A book has not been legally stopped in Norway since The Song of the Red Ruby(Agnar Mykle) in 1957.

Members of royal families are entitled to a private life, but they are not entitled to break laws. Furthermore, the public has the right to openly assess whether the royal family fulfills its societal role in a satisfactory manner.
